The Queen Mary – Cabin A-149 – April 2019

The Queen Mary, launched in 1936, is one of the most incredible artifacts/ships in the entire world. Just stepping on board feels like stepping into history. Hopefully she’ll open again after COVID!

A friend and I stayed the night in April 2019. I’ll share more photos of the rest of the ship later, but here’s our historic room!

The portholes are open!
I’ve only stayed there twice, but both times I’ve had a water view. The other side faces the parking lot and the Long Beach docks.
Non-functional, as far as I could tell, but so cool!
If I recall, that odd handle flushes the toilet!
Hot and cold taps for salt and fresh water! My friend loved the deep bathtub SO MUCH!

The only drawbacks is that the walls are really thin. Back when the Queen Mary sailed, the noise of the ocean would block the noise from your neighbors, but now that she’s docked forever, you can hear anything your neighbors say.

Anyway, if you’re ever given an opportunity to stay at the Queen Mary, do it! It’s like traveling through time. Just bring some earplugs.
