I love pretty much any place named Coney Island. So when I visited EnterTRAINment Junction (fall 2019), I was thrilled to hear they had a miniature Coney Island display! (Themed to Cincinnati’s Coney Island in 1965.)
The most famous Coney Island is the one in New York City, but many cities built their own parks named Coney Island. (Also hot dog restaurants!)
They had buttons you could press to make several of the rides go! I wished I could be small and visit.
How’d Cincinnati’s Coney Island get its name? Coney Island Central says the name came about in 1886, when the place was dubbed “Ohio Grove, The Coney Island of the West.” Not long after, they shortened the name to Coney Island.
Here’s a lovely video. I can imagine myself there…!
